What is a combination stroke?
A
combination stroke means hitting both ends of the mrdanga
at the same time, or sometimes almost at the same time,
depending on the stroke. For example with JHA
(a
stroke you'll learn in this lesson), you strike both ends of the
drum almost at the same
time, but not precisely at the same time. On the other hand, when
playing the straightforward
DHA you
will strike both ends of the drum at precisely
the same time. Both JHA and
DHA are
considered combination
strokes.
There are several possible combination strokes. Some are more
common than others. In this lesson we will discuss the three most
common combination strokes. We will also introduce the flick of
the hand on the small end.
Come on, Bhakta Oswald! It's not confusing. It's EASY!!! See
