The non-resonant "Ti"

"Ti" is made on the small end of the drum (the dayan). It is a non-resonant note, which means that the fingers remain on the head after striking it (the head is not allowed to resonate).

"Ti" is made with the three lower fingers of the right hand for a right handed person, or the left hand for a left handed person (see photo to right).

The fingers slap the head, just above the center point as shown and then remain pressed against the head after striking it.
